Mediocrity

Was talking to Mansi the other day, when she reminded of this thinking flaw a lot of my peer group and I had. When we graduated from B-school, a lot of us felt that there was a lot of mediocrity around us. We wanted to change the game, or the rules of the game, or make an impact, and or add value, or some intellectual trap like that. Almost 6 years hence, there are two groups – those who have stayed at the top of their game to still make excellence an aspiration. And those, who have joined the mediocrity race so that the environment doesn’t treat them like an outcast.

hell yeah.. mediocrity hardly hurts if you are not offended by mediocrity 🙂 I can tell you, being the mediocre that I am 😉

Ofcourse someone has to define mediocrity which anyways is a relative term depending on who uses it. I mean of what I have seen till now, Obama with all his quickwit charm is quite a mediocre President where as I have worked with people quite efficient in their work ways but still not as successful as you would expect them to be after 10 years post B-school! I mean, to say mediocrity doesn’t get rewarded would not be exactly true..quite the same way as being good doesnt necessarily always pay, although being lucky does 🙂
